More Information
Eva-Maria came to the United States from Germany as a young adult, fell in love, had a small family and became a citizen many years later. For all of these years she has kept in touch with friends and family using letters, she never adopted email or any technology so letters have been her only way to reach her friends. Now, at 91, most of her friends and family are no longer here and although she checks the mailbox every day, it is rare to find a letter. She was signed up here once and received many letters and they made her so, so happy. She was shocked that people she didn't know would bother to take the time. She has hung them all up on her kitchen wall and gets great joy from them, especially the drawings by children. Eva was a professional photographer and she loves all things in nature, bunnies, birds and butterflies seem to be favorites. She has some dementia so she often reads, reads again and reads again any letters - getting many moments of joy from a single one! It would be amazing if anyone has time to send her a note, a drawing, or just a pretty card that you have. I will add the address to use in the comments below. She will love to hear from you if you find yourself with a moment. Thank you!

    Dear Eva-Maria,
I am reaching out to let you know you have such a beautiful name and radiant smile! I feel fortunate that my family got to travel to Berlin Germany this past Christmas! We were really taken with the beauty, the efficient modes of transportation, the Christmas Markets, the delicious beer and we especially loved checking out the remanence of the wall that were painted by various artists! There was one in particular with bright images of stick figure people dancing and it was titled "Dancing through Life". It was gorgeous and my son did a jump in front of it and we captured mid air and it is like he became a part of the art..... I can imagine that you at the wonderful age of 91 have learned to Dance through Life. I know this time has been challenging and can be worrisome, but I do hope you know that you are not alone! If you send me your email address I will send you a picture of the shot we took of my son in front of the wall.
    Take good care!

  • hello everyone!
Eva has loved to receive your letters. I am astounded by the sweet personal messages and the obvious attention that has gone in to selecting a card that matches her interests. She has felt like she is responsible for writing everyone back (traditional german courtesy) which has caused her some anxiety about not being able to, but I have explained that all of you are content to know that she is happy to receive them. Thank you!

Nicole, I would love to send letters and cards to your mother. I lost my mother 19 years ago to Alzheimers, but remember how she loved pictures and cards to brighten her day. It is a small gesture, but a big impact and well worth my time to bring joy to your mom.

Thank you Linda. Eva will love to receive your note.

might send a pretty card a hello note about me, my dog and life as a 76 year old to Eva-Marie. I remember my mom who lived away from us for manyyears and how very much she appreciated a letter in the mail ....and how her heart was sad with the passing of each friend. Now at 76 I feel many of those same feelings.
