Holiday Hands

I am the mother of an older son (age 5) and a younger daughter (age 10 months). I am one of the few women that worked at a construction site in New York City. I would like to be a site manager some day. I contracted COVID in March before we really understood it. I was very sick but, luckily, neither of my children were sick. I was worried out of my mind about my new baby while I was sick. My job went away when the city shut down all construction, and it hasn’t resumed. I am really worried about the future, but I just have to take it one day at a time. I don’t have any money for Christmas this year. I don’t need anything fancy, but it makes me so sad not to be able to give my older son something special. He would be over the moon with a set of firetrucks, ambulances, and police cars because we see them on our streets every day. I would also like to be able to buy diapers for my daughter. That would relieve a huge amount of stress for me.
