BOARD OF DIRECTORS

GLENNON DOYLE is the Founder of Together Rising, an all-women-led nonprofit organization that has revolutionized grassroots philanthropy—raising over $45 million for women, families, and children in crisis. She also serves as President and a member of the Together Rising Board of Directors with overall strategic and operational responsibility for the organization’s program and vision, as well as execution and expansion of its mission. Glennon is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller UNTAMED, a Reese’s Book Club selection, which has sold over two million copies. She is also the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller LOVE WARRIOR, an Oprah’s Book Club selection, and CARRY ON, WARRIOR. An activist and “patron saint of female empowerment” (People), Glennon hosts the WE CAN DO HARD THINGS podcast, which debuted at #1 in May 2021 and was named the #1 New Podcast of 2021 on Apple Podcasts. She lives in California with her wife and their three children.


ABBY WAMBACH is a member of the Board of Directors of Together Rising. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, FIFA World Cup Champion, and six-time winner of the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year award. She was the United States’ leading scorer in the 2007 and 2011 Women’s World Cup tournaments and the 2004 and 2012 Olympics. Abby is the host of ABBY’S PLACES on ESPN+, in which she showcases what makes her beloved sport of soccer a worldwide sensation. An activist for equality and inclusion, she is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller WOLFPACK, as well as the adaptation of WOLFPACK for the next generation, an instant New York Times bestseller. Abby also co-hosts the podcast WE CAN DO HARD THINGS with Glennon Doyle, which debuted at #1 in May 2021 and was named the #1 New Podcast of 2021 on Apple Podcasts. Abby is a founder and part owner of Angel City FC, the first majority-female-owned soccer team in history. She lives in California with her wife and their three children.


LIZ BOOK is the Chief Outreach Officer, Corporate Secretary, and a member of the Together Rising Board of Directors. In these roles, Liz is responsible for leading Together Rising’s volunteer team, coordinating grants and daily giving, and handling corporate compliance requirements. Liz is a practicing attorney and resides in Falls Church, Virginia with her husband and three children.


AUSTIN CHANNING BROWN is a member of the Together Rising Board of Directors. She is President and CEO of Herself Media, a company dedicated to women-driven storytelling. Austin is also the New York Times bestselling author of I’M STILL HERE: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness. Her work can also be found in two anthologies: HUNGRY HEARTS and YOU ARE YOUR BEST THING. Whether writing, speaking or producing, Austin’s work centers the Black experience in America and engages a diverse audience in the work of racial justice. She holds a business management degree and a masters in social justice. Austin is a Midwest girl, living in metro-Detroit with her husband, son, and puppy. 


AMANDA DOYLE is Vice President, General Counsel and a member of the Together Rising Board of Directors. In these roles, Amanda is responsible for overseeing and advising on legal matters, including risk management, policy development and programmatic affairs; and cultivating new initiatives and relationships to strengthen the organization’s impact and overall fundraising capacity. A former attorney at the law firm of Hogan Lovells and Legal Fellow with International Justice Mission, Amanda is now Glennon Doyle’s business manager and co-host of the WE CAN DO HARD THINGS podcast. Amanda lives in Virginia with her husband, two children, and their rescue pup Séamus.


ASHLEY C. FORD is a member of the Together Rising Board of Directors. Her New York Times best-selling memoir, SOMEBODY’S DAUGHTER, was published by Flatiron Books in June 2021. Ashley is the former host of The Chronicles of Now podcast and co-host of The HBO companion podcast Lovecraft Country Radio. She currently lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with her husband, poet and fiction writer Kelly Stacy, and their chocolate lab Astro Renegade Ford-Stacy. She has written or guest-edited for ELLE Magazine, Slate, Teen Vogue, New York Magazine, The New York Times, Domino, Cup of Jo, and various other web and print publications.


KATY NISHIMOTO is a member of the Together Rising Board of Directors. She is a Senior Editor at The Dial Press, an imprint of Random House, where she publishes fiction, nonfiction, memoir, and poetry by LGBTQ+ and BIPOC writers. Katy also sits on the board of Baldwin for the Arts, a nonprofit founded by Jacqueline Woodson that provides residency fellowships to BIPOC artists. She lives in Los Angeles with her spouse and dog.


ALLISON SCHOTT is the Treasurer, and a member of the Together Rising Board of Directors. In these roles, she is responsible for overseeing (in conjunction with the outside bookkeeper, accounting team, and staff), the full and accurate accounts of receipts, donations, and disbursements, as well as collaborating with staff on key creative concepts that help meet Together Rising’s objectives and advance its strategy. Allison is a key member of Glennon Doyle’s creative and editorial team and lives in Alexandria, Virginia.


STAFF

GLORIA GOERES joined the Together Rising staff in 2019. As Interim Executive Director, Gloria provides management and support for all things Together Rising, including program admin, partner and donor relationships, financial oversight, and staff leadership. Gloria is an optimistic Gamecock fan who lives in Virginia with her family and is always searching the bookshelves for her next page-turner. 


SAMI NARAYANAN joined the Together Rising staff in 2021. As Diligence Associate, Sami supports the Diligence Team Lead with research for applications and rapid response crisis events, follows domestic and global crises to which Together Rising will respond. Sami has a PhD in biochemistry with a focus on immunology and uses an evidence and data-driven approach to her research work for Together Rising. Sami enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, parents, and dog named Cricket. 


NATALIE BRINKMAN joined the Together Rising staff in 2021. As Diligence Team Lead, Natalie leads a team of staff and volunteers who, collectively, are responsible for assuring Together Rising is being a responsible steward of the funds with which we have been entrusted by our donors. The Diligence Team reviews all applications, researches crises, identifies potential partners already doing good work in the crises, completes diligence reports on every potential grant recipient, assists in the execution of grants, and assists in working with partner organizations. Natalie was drawn to this work after having her twins. Feeling the challenges that new motherhood and raising a family presented, she knew her mission was to become part of a collective of women who help each other navigate the world. Natalie has a degree in Politics and lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband and twins.


JENNY BOOTH POTTER joined the Together Rising staff in 2023. As Senior Manager of Storytelling and Engagement, Jenny is responsible for creating communication materials that build awareness about our mission, vision, and impact. She also leads Together Rising’s efforts to develop connections between our community of supporters and the world around them. Jenny has worked for non profit organizations for over 20 years, and she holds a Certificate in NonProfit Management. Her first book, “Doing Nothing Is No Longer an Option”, was published in 2022. Jenny and her husband, John, make their home in Saint Paul, Minnesota with their two kids and one wild puppy named Gusteau. Her favorite topic is a tie between the Enneagram and whatever she’s learning in therapy.
