Gifts for Christmas

Nido de Esperanza | New york, NY
I have two children, ages 2 and 5. We live in New York City and it has been a tough year. My family was hit very hard by COVID. My husband was a construction worker and lost his job in April. He has been trying to find more work but there are so many people looking for work right now. I take my boys to the park very early before there are too many kids to try to keep them safe. I am trying to balance their health and their need to be outside and with other children. My five year old has started kindergarten fully remote. I try to always be positive and look on the bright side. I am very nervous about Christmas. We don’t have enough money for rent so we certainly don’t have enough money for presents. I would love to have a few small items to wrap - a new ball to share, a scooter for the five year old so we can move around the city a bit better, and a Yankees shirt for each of them. If there were a few extra dollars to help us buy a ham for dinner, that would make our Christmas dinner feel a better more like normal (in the most not normal of times).
