Lonely Christmas

Nido de Esperanza | New york, NY
I feel very alone in New York City. I gave birth to my son in April at the height of the COVID pandemic in NYC. The hospital was so scary. I have a 4-year-old son, too. When my husband came to the hospital during our baby’s birth, he couldn’t leave. We don’t have any family in this country so we are very isolated. Luckily, our neighbor watched our older son while I was in the hospital. I work as a home attendant so I am considered an essential worker and was able to go back to work in two weeks. I prayed so hard all day that I wouldn’t get sick and bring COVID home to my little ones. We are blessed to have our health and be together. However, I think it is going to be a very lonely Christmas. I would like to be able to buy some Christmas decorations to make our room a bit more festive. I think my boys would love a small Christmas tree. I would also like to be able to buy them a set of Magnatiles so they could build things. Finally, I would like to be able to make a special Christmas dinner and share it with my neighbor who watched my son while I was in the hospital giving birth.
