Holiday Hands

Lela is a former foster youth who lives in public housing in Long Island City. She recently graduated with her associate’s degree and is enrolled to start her bachelor’s program this spring. In addition to school, Lela works as a paraprofessional for the NYC Department of Education. Lela has a magnetic personality and brightens the day of everyone who crosses her path. Lela is a teaching assistant, working hard to teach students remotely. She has her eyes on a new pair of sneakers as a special gift this holiday season.
