Holiday Hands

Demetri is a brilliant young woman who will surely take the world by storm. This past spring was Demetri’s final semester of her bachelor's degree in Applied Psychology. In March, she was living in a dorm through The Dorm Project, working, and preparing for graduation and finding her own place. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 altered most of Demetri’s plans. Thankfully her number was called for a NYCHA apartment that spring so she had somewhere to go when The Dorm Project evacuated all its students. Demetri moved into her apartment with only the items from her dorm room. The move was lonely and scary, but she persevered. She completed all her courses and successfully graduated in June from NYU. She secured a job as a teacher with Teach for America as well as a TA position for a course at her alma mater. She has stayed busy and used her small income to cover bills, rent, groceries, and supplies for her doggie. Demetri would use the Holiday Hands gift to purchase a pair of noise cancelling headphones. Demetri would use the headphones for online graduate school classes at Relay Graduate School of Education and remote work.
