Holiday Hands

My husband and I both lost our jobs in New York City in March when COVID ravaged our city. Thank God my husband is working again at a restaurant. We both try to be the best parents we can be to our two children. We try to prioritize our kids and spend a lot of time with them -- going to the parks, taking walks, dog watching from our stoop. We had three family members get COVID, and they got kicked out of their housing situation. We took in my brother and cousins and tried to make the best of the situation. It is a lot of people living in a small space, but it makes the rent more manageable. It would mean a lot to me if I were able to cook a special dinner for all the folks living with me. I would love to buy a turkey, chicken, chocolate to make a special cake, fresh cranberries, etc. I dream of being able to put a small wreath on our door and just trying to remember that we are all together and that in and of itself is a reason to celebrate.
