$20,000 to Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance
Although we are relieved every separated child is now with at least one parent, this is not a happy ending. As of Sunday, at least 377 people, including parents, remain in ICE custody — some of whom may be residing, working and raising families in the US legally. Even those who have been released have lost vital wages, are unable to return to work, and their ankle bracelets are a cruel reminder of pending deportation hearings, which may separate them from their families indefinitely. In honor of your heartbreak over this trauma, Together Rising has made a $20,000 donation to Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance (MIRA), a local, grassroots coalition that is actively responding to the short and long-term needs of these families. Together Rising exists to turn our collective heartbreak into effective action, and we are honored to stand with you to help keep these families together. This situation is changing quickly — for these families and families facing similar trauma. Be assured we are continuing to monitor and assess how we can continue to fund support for these families in a responsible and effective way as their long-term needs evolve.
