Those are the names of the ten Black people who were killed in Buffalo on Saturday in a racist massacre by a white supremacist. Three more were injured.

One of the victims, Andre Mackniel, was picking up a birthday cake to celebrate his little boy turning three that day. He should have made it home to his son. All ten of these precious people should have gotten to walk out of that grocery store. Instead, they were gunned down in a matter of seconds. Their lives were stolen and the lives of all who knew and loved them were shattered instantly.

That grocery store was targeted. It was located in an area of Buffalo with the highest percentage of Black residents, as well as in a food desert, making it one of the only places where families could purchase quality, healthy food in their community.

We are investing $50,000 in the Delavan-Grider Community Center, an organization led by Black women that has been a pillar of the Buffalo community for twenty years and is continuing to provide critically needed resources in the aftermath of Saturday’s racist, diabolical massacre.
