You covered the cost of Jennifer’s first month of rent, enabling her and her girls to move into their first-ever apartment together after surviving abuse

Who helped Jennifer and her girls move into a new place after surviving abuse? You did.

After the girls’ dad left when they were just one and three-years-old, Jennifer became a single mom to Amelia and Audrey.

Not long after, Jennifer met someone new. They began dating and eventually moved in together. Jennifer was promised a “beautiful and magical forever.”

(The next paragraph mentions interpersonal partner violence.)

Yet on a terrifying night, after months and months of what Jennifer now recognizes as both physical and emotional abuse, her now-ex woke her abruptly at 3 AM. “[He] screamed at me for over 45 minutes about how worthless I was and how much he hated me.”

Shaken and scared, Jennifer gathered the girls and left immediately. Over the course of just three days, they rushed to move out — the speed of the transition forcing them to leave behind almost all of their personal belongings, everything from clothes to shoes to dishes.

When we met them, Jennifer, Amelia, and Audrey had been living with Jennifer’s best friend for nine months.

As a social worker working in mental health, Jennifer was stretching her income just to make ends meet. She wasn’t receiving any child support. While she dreamed of starting fresh by moving to the town where her girls go to school, the upfront costs were still too much for her to afford.

You, through Together Rising, covered the cost of Jennifer’s first month of rent, enabling her and her girls to move into their first-ever apartment together.

Jennifer just found out how you showed up for her:

“Oh my goodness . . . thank you SO MUCH from the bottom of my heart! This is going to help me tremendously with our adjustment. Thank you thank you!”
