#Justice For Separated Families

Yesterday, Amanda shared an important message with the Together Rising community. The quick summary was this:

Last year, a federal court approved a settlement agreement for immigrant families torn apart under the former administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy.  

This landmark decision offers a glimmer of hope to nearly 5,000 shattered families, granting them a precious lifeline to pursue asylum in the U.S. Unfortunately, the government is not providing these parents and children with the crucial legal support they desperately need.

The clock is ticking for thousands of innocent children and their caregivers who are seeking safety and unity. They need help securing legal representation to successfully file their asylum claims.

We promised that we would not rest until all these families were reunited and able to stay together. This is the last step in keeping that promise. 

And we need you. We need $6,000 per family. Every penny we receive will go toward providing free attorneys for over 500 new cases for separated families. Without representation, these families are at risk for deportation and forced re-separation.

This issue is bigger than any one organization, and it’s time these families are put first. It’s going to take a collective effort to fill the gap the government left behind and make sure hundreds of separated families get the support they need.
