Rafah
Here is what we know.
Rafah is a Palestinian city in southern Gaza. This border city with Egypt has turned into one of the most densely populated places on Earth. More and more Palestinians have been herded into it by Israeli forces who keep promising safety “further south” – which never materialized.
Rafah was supposed to be a safe zone.
Sunday night, Rafah witnessed a night of relentless Israeli bombardment, leading to the tragic loss of approximately 100 Palestinian lives, including Majed al-Afifi, a baby who was just over a month old when he was killed.
Hospitals are beyond capacity.
Gaza’s largest functioning hospital is operating at 300% capacity. Hundreds of people, many children and women, are sustaining severe injuries.
Two hostages were freed.
Two Israeli hostages, Fernando Simon Marman, 60, and Louis Har, 70, were freed during the attack in Rafah.
Here is what we believe:
Ceasefire.
Release the hostages.
End the genocide.
Here is what we are continuing to do:
Work with trusted on-the-ground partners.
Since 2021, Together Rising has invested over $550,000 to provide humanitarian aid and relief to Gaza. Last year, in response to the most recent attacks, we gave $358,207.31.
Today, we are committing another $100,000 to our long-standing partnership with Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), so they can provide rapid relief to the people trapped with no safe place to turn. MECA’s team and partners in Gaza are procuring food and hygiene supplies from stores, warehouses, factories, and farmers, and despite the very real risk to their lives, they are delivering them to displaced families every single day.
Hundreds of thousands of people in Gaza are literally starving, with the territory’s entire population of roughly 2.2m people suffering acute food shortages. MECA is partnering with World Central Kitchen to increase their capacity and scale up their food distribution efforts.
Turn to you.
All the money we raise in the next 24 hours will be added to our $100,000 and immediately sent to support the people of Gaza. Join us by donating at the link in our bio: TogetherRising.org/Give.
