Together Rising is investing $100,000 to support transgender and LGBTQIA2S+ youth and their families in Texas and across the country

A week ago, in response to the blatant, devastating attack on transgender youth and their right to access life-saving, gender-affirming care in Texas, we promised to invest in these kids and their families.

We have an update on our first wave of investments.

Together Rising has invested $100,000 in four trusted organizations providing gender-affirming care, emotional support, and critical resources to transgender and LGBTQIA2S+ youth across Texas and the country.

Out Youth is a queer-led, deeply embedded organization in Austin. From support groups, to counseling, to drop-ins for preteens and teens, Out Youth is a safe place for LGBTQIA2S+ youth ages 9 to 23 to receive comprehensive, culturally-sensitive support.

LGBTQ Saves is a queer-led, grassroots nonprofit based in Dallas-Fort Worth. A “community where all youth are safe,” they offer direct services to youth ages 12 to 24, such as gender-affirming haircuts, clothing, and shapewear, as well as educational resources for parents and educators.

Founded by community activists, Kind Clinic in Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio provides gender-affirming medical care to transgender youth, including hormone replacement therapy for those ages 16 and up, in concert with a pediatric endocrinologist.

Heartbreakingly, the rights and safety of these precious children are being attacked not just in Texas but all across the country, including Florida.

That’s why we’ve also invested in TransFamilies, a virtual community hub serving transgender youth across the country, as well as their families. Rooted in intersectionality, they offer support groups for kids who are gender diverse and neurodivergent and for transgender kids of color.

We have always been, and will always be, fervent advocates for both children and the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Together, we will continue to show up for and stand with lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, questioning, transgender, intersex, asexual, and two-spirit youth and their families.

Because there’s no such thing as other people’s children.
