Trans rights are human rights
Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, an international observance to celebrate trans joy and pride and to raise awareness about the discrimination that trans folks face.
At Together Rising, we continue to be vocal advocates for the LGBTQ+ community. We continue to stand in solidarity with the millions of transgender and nonbinary individuals across our country. Since the beginning of 2022, we’ve invested $633,617.00 in organizations based in the U.S. that support the LGBTQ+ community.
Last Thursday, we spoke about the deluge of anti-trans policies that is currently sweeping the country. In the week since, Kentucky banned gender-affirming care for minors and discussions about gender identity and sexual orientation in schools.
This ban, like the others, is devastating.
Trans rights are human rights, as Caitlin Blunnie illustrated so beautifully.
We’ve said it before but it bears repeating, especially as so much vitriol continues to be directed towards the LGBTQ+ community.
To our LGBTQ+ community members reading this:
You are beloved.
You deserve to be celebrated and cherished—not singled out or stigmatized.
You deserve to be fully, beautifully, wholeheartedly, and authentically yourselves.
Your rights matter.
We see you—and we stand with you. We celebrate your joy and pride. We will continue to speak out against the discrimination you face and fight for your rights. We will continue to invest in organizations that support you.
